Increased efficiency
Increased understanding of visual effect shots by all involved will lead to more efficient rehearsals and confident acting. On-the-spot changes to the graphics are possible – you can treat CG the same way you treat real sets and actors. Spend quality time on the shoot, do your digital dailies live on set, sign off shots on set and minimize chances of a re-shoot. Bring the environments to you. No need for company moves and costly on location operations.
Save time and money
Get the composite scenes back to base as soon as the shoot is over, including camera animation synchronized with event animations and video-assist. Most shots will work straight away with no need for match moving. The director can now see a high resolution render within a few days of the shoot. This method allows post-production to spend their time on the creative aspects of the VFX shots immediately, without the expensive, painful and long process of manually tracking the virtual camera data for each shot. In addition Gausst can include a garbage matte captured live on set, drastically reducing the time spent creating this key manually for each shot while compositing. This should shrink production schedules and budgets considerably.

The director will see the comp live, in real-time, and actors will be able to see comps immediately after the shot and discuss it with the director. Gausst allows for changing any 3D element in 3D space instantly before or after the shot, hence you can rehearse with both actors and computer graphics before the actual take! This is especially true for staging, positioning, interaction between actors and CG characters/events and timing of shots.
Achieve a higher quality in the visual effects process
There's no or little waiting time for camera information from match-movers. Thus directors, VFX supervisors and animators can guide more thoroughly from the start of post-production and hence help enhance the quality of the VFX and CGI.

Compose and frame VFX shots live on set
By seeing the computer graphics and live action composite live on set allows the cinematographer to use CG elements to frame their shots and move the camera from and to any desired positions. Gausst includes a garbage matte in real time giving you a potential 360° view of the environment. This process also allows you to follow animated 3d characters and/or 3d objects.
Maintain your current workflow
Gausst works with tracking solutions that allows you to maintain your current shooting workflow. We will not stand in your way of any lighting set-up, or choice of camera or lenses. Gausst is very transparent on set. We calibrate the camera rigs and lenses before the shoot and we do support all axis of movement, including hand-held. Between shots we work with the camera crew to check alignment of the graphics. A good working relationship between Gausst's crew and the camera crew is essential and most always works out great.
